Tips for a sympathetic family vacation in Rome, Florence and Venice

Tips for family vacations in Rome, Florence and Venice

As you may know, the Waldensian Houses are present in the historic centers of Rome, Florence , Venice with three structures that are very different and at the same time similar in many ways.

Common points

Here are the main characteristics shared by all Waldensian Houses:

  • are managed by the Waldensian Diaconia;
  • with their profits, support educational and social welfare projects of the Waldensian Diaconia. Guests, through their stay, thus contribute to the implementation of activities and projects for the elderly, minors, migrants and the disabled. These services are aimed at anyone in need, regardless of physical appearance and cultural traditions of gender, language, religion, political opinions or personal and social conditions;
  • Are nonprofit structures;
  • welcome beyond the provision of a beautiful, clean and complete space. They aspire to establish a relationship with guests, cherish the encounter with each other or the other;
  • finally they have always implemented Responsible Tourism [if you would like to learn more about this topic, go to the blog].

Family vacation: dream or nightmare?

Nice vacation in Rome, Florence and Venice! But it seems like a complicated situation for you to handle with one or more children in tow. Perhaps the assumption that prevents you from planning the trip is hidden in the phrase “in tow.” Perhaps many of us have an image in our minds that does not necessarily correspond to reality, in which children “undergo the trip” by being “dragged” from museum to museum, to churches or crowded squares to hunt for monuments and architectural treasures and then return exhausted to the cramped room of an anonymous accommodation. Effectively so, it is not very enticing.

Good news

La Waldensian House in Rome, the Waldensian Guesthouse in Florence and the Valdese Guesthouse in Venice have a long tradition in hospitality aimed at families, large or small, and groups of friends with families. All three facilities offer comfortable accommodations in unique buildings and feature family rooms and common areas. The services offered vary according to the type of facility, but the warm welcome and attention to young guests are shared.

Your vacation may include visits to museums and major sights alternating with moments of carefree relaxation, so that young and old alike will have an experience consonant with their needs.

The reception staff will be able to advise you on how best to experience the city, as far away from the dynamics of mass tourism as possible.

Before you make contact with the facilities to request availability and quotes, we leave you with a list of the most suitable museums for children and teens. Each museum holds a world within it and will give our young guests a journey within a journey, instilling or strengthening in them a love of culture. Check out the menus at the museums’ websites and find out what activities are organized for the youngest.
