Discover Waldensian Homes for organizing school trips in Italy. Each facility offers suitable spaces for educational and recreational activities.

School trips are an indispensable part of all schools’ educational offerings.

The Waldensian Homes are the right choice, both for the location of the facilities along the peninsula and for the quality of services offered. In fact, in Waldensian Homes, socialization and learning, the focus of school tourism, are best integrated.

Our offer

In the cities of art, Venice, Florence and Rome, or for a trip to discover the natural and cultural heritage in Tuscany and Piedmont, or even at the seaside-at Rio Marina onElba Island or in Liguria-our facilities are available to suggest itineraries, workshops and educational activities.

All facilities have within them spaces and rooms suitable for organizing educational activities or playful-recreational moments. On the strength of the experience gained by the Valdese Diaconia in the field of hospitality, training and education, we are available to offer modular and customizable packages at competitive prices.

Waldensian Valleys

In the Waldensian Valleys, the Waldensian guesthouse in Torre Pellice, in the province of Turin, offers the opportunity to discover the culture and history of the Waldensian community by retracing eight centuries of Italian and European history through visits to museums, temples and historic sites. The guesthouse is also the starting point for discovering the mountain area with outdoor educational activities, orienteering trials, constellation observation and more in collaboration with local associations and guides.

Venice

The Waldensian Guesthouse of Venice, just a stone’s throw from St. Mark’s Square and the Rialto Bridge, is the ideal starting point for discovering the city: from the Arsenale along the shore of the lagoon basin, to the outlines of San Giorgio, Salute and St. Mark’s bell tower, from museums to churches, to campi and campielli. Venice has a history of tradition and intersections between monotheistic faiths: Judaism, Islam, and Christianity. Today, as in the past, these different religious expressions are in dialogue with each other. Monotheistic faiths can therefore be discovered through a journey between East and West that takes students to learn more about Judaism through the oldest ghetto in Europe, Greek Orthodox Christianity, and the Reformed church.

Rome

Hotel Casa Valdese in Rome is a 3-star hotel near the Vatican, in one of the quietest and most charming areas of the capital. The property is within easy reach of major sights, such as St. Peter’s Basilica and the Vatican Museums. Within a 20-minute walk you can also visit Piazza del Popolo, Piazza Navona, the Pantheon, the Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain. For the little ones, Villa Borghese and Rome’s Bio Park are within easy reach.

To the sea

In Liguria, at the stay at the Waldensian House in Vallecrosia, a stone’s throw from the Côte d’Azur, can be combined with nature excursions to discover the marine and river environment or historical trails in the footsteps of Italo Calvino and Claude Monet. Or, 70 km from Genoa, at the Hotel Valdese House in Pietra Ligure it is possible to visit seaside villages, the caves of Borgio Verezzi and Toirano and discover the treasures of the sea accompanied by entertainers specialized in working with primary and secondary school children. Finally, experience theIsland of Elba by stopping by the Waldensian House in Rio Marina, an ancient mining village, from which you can set out to discover an island rich in history and natural resources.

The cradle of the Renaissance and the Tuscan landscape

In Tuscany, you can choose to visit the capital city of Florence and stay at the Foresteria Valdese of Florence in a typical 17th-century Florentine palace in theOltrarno area, just a stone’s throw from Ponte Vecchio and a 20-minute walk from Santa Maria Novella Station. In the setting of the Val D’Arno, on the other hand, it is possible to arrange a stay at Casa Cares, in Reggello, and from there set off to discover Siena, Arezzo and Florence itself, or discover the area’s nature reserves, housed in a 16th-century villa surrounded by a wonderful olive grove and forest.

We have always been firm believers in the importance of school trips, which is why we offer educational institutions the opportunity to obtain “study trip grants.”
