Sustainability, solidarity, responsible tourism
A stranger is someone who comes from elsewhere and is not from around here. He comes from another place; he is a foreigner, but he is welcomed and becomes a guest. This is the spirit of hospitality found in the Waldensian Houses and Guesthouses.
Sustainability
We are committed to protecting the environment and caring for creation. Depending on the specific characteristics of each location, the Case Valdesi have installed solar panels, constructed wetlands and composting systems, practice natural farming methods, and encourage environmentally responsible behavior among guests through the awareness campaign “Help Us Care for the Earth ,” which can be viewed here.
Solidarity
We promote sharing and solidarity by using proceeds from Waldensian Homes to support Diaconia’s social projects, offering internship, volunteer and employment opportunities through our and other services aimed at, for example, asylum seekers, migrants, the elderly and single mothers with children.
We have welcoming facilities equipped to accommodate people with disabilities.
In addition, we are running the 1 Euro for… campaign by which, for every guest who stays overnight at one of our facilities in Italy, Waldensian Homes add €1 to a special fund that supports one of the areas of intervention of the Waldensian Diaconia.

Responsible tourism
We practice and promote responsible tourism, which is the sum total of best practices in environmental sustainability, corporate social responsibility, gender equity, and safeguarding territories and communities.
By staying in Waldensian Houses you can discover different Italian territories with a look beyond the traditional concept of tourism.
You will be pleasantly involved in a process in which all the “players” in tourism–tourist, travel organizer, host facility, and local community–work together so that the tourism experience is balanced and functional to everyone’s needs.
