Solidarity Tourism Hospitality in the service of solidarity: the Educational Services of the Waldensian Diaconia
Waldensian Homes are nonprofit facilities that support the social welfare services of the Waldensian Diaconia. We tell you about those dedicated to minors and adolescents
A vacation to support those most in need
Waldensian Homes put hospitality at the service of solidarity, concretely. 100% of the profits generated go to support the Valdese Diaconia‘s social, educational and welfare projects. It means that with your stay you contribute to the realization of initiatives and services aimed at the elderly, minors, migrants and fragile and disabled people. But what, specifically, are these projects? There are three areas of intervention: Health, Inclusion and Educational Services, each with its own facilities, services and campaigns.
Waldensian Diaconia Educational Services: areas of focus
The Educational Services area offers welcome and support to minors in situations of social, psychological and health fragility, making use of personalized projects in collaboration with local agencies. Each service enhances the individual life paths of boys and girls, to allow each and every one to fully express their specificities. A delicate and complex area of intervention, requiring a wide spectrum of professionalism – psychological, psychiatric, pedagogical and social. Fundamental is the synergy with social services, educational institutions, territorial health services and sports associations, to enrich the path of growth.
Waldensian Diaconia Educational Services: the facilities
Counseling Services and the School Project
And then the services, such as the Counseling Path, which based on the experience gained in the educational centers of the Florentine Waldensian Diaconia aims to support adolescents and preadolescents in collaboration with the Azienda Usl Toscana Centro and the Social Services of the municipality of Florence. Over time, pathways for adults and trainings for businesses have been added to encourage independent tool development and goal achievement. Not to be forgotten is the School Project, which, thanks to a team of specialized professionals, develops interventions aimed at minors, their families and educational institutions. Starting from a careful needs analysis, the workshops are mainly aimed at students but always involve teachers and parents as well.
