At Casa Cares an experience among history, culture and green tradition

The Little Museum of Oil and Territory is born at Casa Cares!

A few months ago at Casa Cares the Little Museum of Oil and Territory was born: a space open to guests and all those who wish to visit it. The project explores the history of olive growing to discover the past of Villa i Graffi, now Casa Cares, and learn about the specificities of the territory, in a constant cross-reference between past and present. An initiative promoted by the Diaconia Valdese with the support of the Ministry of Tourism and the collaboration of the Municipality of Reggello.

Little Museum of Oil and Territory: what will you be able to find?

The tour of the Little Museum is divided into three rooms. The Oil Mill, dedicated to the cultivation and production of oil. The Theater, where the transformations of the property are explored. The Multipurpose Room, where we dwell on the faces of the people who inhabited Villa i Graffi, worked there and lived in the Reggello area, with historical photographs and audiovisual materials.

The Little Museum of Oil and Territory: an inclusive, welcoming and sustainable space

The Little Museum is designed to be inclusive and welcoming for everyone, with special attention to people with visual, cognitive and hearing disabilities. Tools including tactile maps, reproductions to touch, Alternative Augmentative Communication (AAC) panels and subtitles for multimedia content are dedicated to them. The exhibit is plastic free, made of natural, biodegradable or recyclable materials, recalling the circularity of raw materials used in farm times: wood, stone, rope and metal.

Why a Little Museum at Cares House?

Casa Cares has its heart in hosting groups, but not only. Volunteers are housed within the facility; sustainability is addressed; camps for young and very young people are organized; local cooperatives are collaborated in the implementation of social farming experiences; and vegetables, fruits and oil are produced. The Little Museum is the place where all the souls of Casa Cares find a place to take shape and grow.
