Once Easter has passed, the months when it is more pleasant to be outdoors and enjoy nature are approaching. That’s why we offer you a botanical gardens-themed<\/strong> cue. Near three of our facilities you can visit botanical gardens and botanical gardens. Each of them has distinctive features, all of them are very interesting. <\/p>\n\n

Hanbury Gardens, Liguria<\/h2>\n\n

Eight kilometers from the C<\/a><\/strong>asa Valdese of Vallecrosia<\/strong><\/a> are located the G<\/a><\/strong>Hanbury Botanical Gardens<\/strong><\/a>. Founded beginning in 1867, they cover an area of 18 hectares. Thanks to the temperate climate of western Liguria<\/strong>, the gardens are home to plants native to tropical and subtropical areas of the planet. The University of Genoa is involved in the green care and monitoring project. The main goal is to ensure that the natural life cycle of the plants is not altered. The website of the Hanbury Gardens<\/a><\/strong> offers you the opportunity to discover the blooms scheduled for each month of the year, to plan your visit to this enchanting place. <\/p>\n\n

The Orto dei Semplici, on the island of Elba<\/h2>\n\n

Decidedly smaller is Elba’s Orto dei Semplici <\/strong>, 6 kilometers from the C<\/a><\/strong>asa Valdese of Rio Marina<\/strong><\/a> at the Hermitage of Santa Caterina. On a promontory that offers a wonderful view of the sea are wild Mediterranean herbs<\/strong> and typical Elban crops <\/strong>from vines to wheat as well as medicinal herbs. The garden was born in the 1970s from an idea of Hans Georg Berger. Subsequently, disparate professionals and a good number of volunteers have been involved to enrich and care for it. Open seasonally from April and v<\/strong><\/a>isit by reservation<\/strong><\/a>. <\/p>\n\n

The Peyronel Garden, Piedmont<\/h2>\n\n

The last proposal is really special and involves an easy trek<\/strong> with a starting point half an hour from the Waldensian guesthouse in Torre Pellice<\/a><\/strong> and a 2-hour walk. The Peyronel Garden<\/strong> is the highest spontaneous alpine botanical garden in Europe<\/strong> positioned at 2290 m above sea level<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n

Its special feature is that in 17,000 square meters it presents almost all the botanical species of the Western Alps<\/strong>. It was founded by Bruno Peyronel, a botanist and naturalist, and is cared for by volunteers from the Piedmont Naturalist Association with the involvement of students from the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Turin who offer during the summer to lead guided tours of the garden.
